The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced media relations professional to join the Group Media Relations team in a high-profile Vice President role. Sitting at the heart of the organisation's corporate affairs function, you will play a pivotal role in shaping external narratives, delivering proactive media engagement and advising senior leaders on complex reputational matters.

This is a fast-paced position requiring exceptional judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to lead communications programmes across a global business. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will help safeguard the organisation's reputation while driving impactful storytelling across financial, corporate and strategic communications.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver proactive media strategies aligned to the organisation's strategic priorities.
  • Lead high-profile communications campaigns and manage day-to-day media engagement across corporate and financial topics.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with national, international and financial media, ensuring effective external positioning.
  • Provide trusted strategic counsel to senior leaders on media engagement, announcements and reputational issues.
  • Lead communications during issues and crisis situations, ensuring timely, accurate and consistent messaging.
  • Identify emerging reputational risks and develop effective mitigation strategies in partnership with internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare senior spokespeople for media interviews, announcements and external engagements.
  • Collaborate across communications, legal, risk and business teams to ensure a coordinated approach to external communications.

Skills & Experience

  • Significant senior media relations experience gained within financial services or another highly regulated environment.
  • An established network of top-tier financial, business and national media contacts.
  • Demonstrable experience leading financial communications, crisis communications and complex reputation management programmes.
  • Strong strategic communications capability, with experience advising senior executives and preparing spokespeople.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to operate at executive level.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues for external audiences.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering communications across international markets.
  • Sound commercial judgement and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
