The Opportunity

The Opportunity:

We are partnering with a notable charity in the education sector to recruit a senior External Affairs professional for a 12-month maternity cover. The post-holder will lead a busy multi-disciplinary team to drive the organisation’s reputational, influencing and engagement work.

The postholder will have responsibility for driving an integrated approach to their audience influencing to deliver their strategic objectives, through collective oversight across public affairs, stakeholder relations, communications and marketing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead, inspire and develop a high performing external affairs team
  • Day to day overall accountability for external affairs activity and plans
  • Strategically oversee public affairs, stakeholder relations, media, communications, audience engagement and partnerships work
  • Brief the CEO and Director of Policy and External Affairs for high profile and external events
  • Oversee the joined-up delivery of key external big communication events and announcements
  • Identify key strategic relationships and opportunities to enable an optimal operating environment
  • Enable purposeful reputational growth, enhanced brand recognition and the delivery of external impact

Key Skills Required:

  • A politically astute strategic communications professional with a sharp antennae for identifying opportunities as well as anticipating and managing corporate and reputational risk.
  • Proven experience in corporate communications and public affairs with an understanding of marketing communications
  • Ability to flex across marketing and brand as well as corporate, stakeholder and internal communications
  • Ability to balance big picture thinking with driving practical implementation
  • A proven track record in building credibility with senior stakeholders
  • Sector experience from working in charities, trade bodies, government, or membership organisations is highly desirable
