The Opportunity

The opportunity

The Global Infrastructure Investor Association (GIIA) is the membership body representing the world’s leading institutional investors in infrastructure and advisers to the sector. Their members finance and manage more than $2 trillion of infrastructure assets that power economies, improve transport connectivity and support the transition to net zero.

GIIA works with governments, regulators, decision-makers and wider stakeholders in the UK, US, EU, Australia, Canada and beyond to create environments conducive to attracting  private capital and expertise.

As the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager, you will lead the development of policy and advocacy strategies that help influence the political and regulatory environment across the UK and internationally.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead policy development aligned with GIIA’s objectives, coordinating closely with investors and industry experts.
  • Manage relationships and lead engagement with government, senior stakeholders across national and international industry bodies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends and provide timely political intelligence to members and senior leadership.
  • Produce clear and persuasive content such as briefings, policy papers and consultation responses.
  • Chair our UK policy working group, and design roundtables, workshops and other events that convene investors with decision-makers in government.
  • Represent GIIA at forums and industry events in the UK and internationally as required.

Key skills and experience required

  • Experience in public policy and/or government affairs, ideally in infrastructure or finance.
  • Strong knowledge of UK political institutions and legislative processes. Knowledge of other markets would be an asset, particularly in Europe, north America or APAC.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence in senior forums.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver structured and well-executed advocacy campaigns to multiple stakeholders.
  • Proactive, adaptable and curious about global policy and infrastructure trends.
