The Opportunity
The opportunity:
Ellwood Atfield are partnering with a membership organisation within the healthcare sector to recruit a Press and Public Relations Officer. This is a pivotal role where you will play a key part in raising the national, regional, and international profile of the organisation and its members, shaping public conversations around primary care and healthcare policy.
Main responsibilities:
- Create and distribute articles, press statements and releases to enhance the organisation's visibility in national media, aligning with its policy objectives, campaigns and strategic goals.
- Take a lead role in the editorial process of producing the organisation's magazine.
- Respond swiftly and sensitively to any negative or critical media coverage.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key national journalists, bloggers and influencers.
- Provide strategic communications advice to the senior management team, including handling media enquiries outside of regular hours.
- Work closely with the Web Content Editor and social media team to coordinate digital content and social media output.
Key skills and experience required:
- Experience in a press office, preferably within a national membership organisation, charity, or health-based environment.
- Demonstrated success in running proactive public relations campaigns and crisis management.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, crafted for various audiences through articles, speeches, and reports.
- Confident engaging with journalists, senior spokespeople, and members.
- Strong news sense and a creative eye for identifying proactive, engaging stories.
- Resilient and self-motivated, managing multiple priorities, and thrive under pressure.
- Good team player, conscientious, and reliable.
