Ellwood Atfield is working with the Local Trust who are looking for a Policy Projects Manager on a 2-year fixed term basis. This is a newly created role in which you will lead on the development of existing policy projects, while delivering new projects which help Local Trust to secure its legacy. You will work with the Head of External Affairs and the Parliamentary Manager across a broad spectrum of partnerships within the housing, health, and Local Authority sectors, ensuring the charity leaves a lasting impact on government and wider public policy.

Key Responsibilities
- To manage partnerships with contractors and grant recipients to secure effective delivery of policy projects.
- To ensure contractors and grant recipients understand the ethos of Local Trust; the charity’s objectives in funding work and the legacy impacts it hopes to secure.
- To enable grant and contractors to comply with funding arrangements whilst monitoring grant and contract compliance; work with funded organisations to address issues.
- To ensure project outcomes align with the Local Trust’s organisational strategic objectives.
- To work with the Policy and Parliamentary Manager to ensure project outcomes align with the overall aims of the Local Trust policy programme.
- To ensure the policy implications are distilled from projects and either their influencing elements are effectively delivered by the funded organisation or Local Trust (responsibility will vary depending on the project).
- To ensure the success projects are effectively evaluated and lessons effectively communicated with colleagues, reporting to the board on project delivery and any challenges.
- To develop and deliver new legacy projects (capacity allowing).
- To manage, coach and develop, the Senior Policy Officer supporting their work, whilst ensuring Policy colleagues work effectively within a cohesive team.
- To represent Local Trust at meetings and events with external stakeholders.
Experience required
- Significant experience of policy project development.
- A strong understanding of how to influence and implement policy.
- Experience of managing and motivating a small team.
- A knowledge of the funding landscape and how to negotiate it.
- Credibility as an advisor/capacity builder.
- Creativity, curiosity, drive and an ability to deal with uncertainty.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with an ability to maintain and develop healthy relationships with partners.
- Political awareness and an ability to handle sensitive issues with tact.
