The opportunity
Major international financial services business based in London is looking for a Media Relations Manager.
The post-holder will build and protect the organisation’s reputation. You will play a critical role in the development and delivery of the team’s wider communications strategy and plans, taking a lead role in driving forward proactive corporate campaigning.
Main responsibilities
- Deliver corporate messaging and devise and implement Media Relations programmes and strategies
- Liaise with and provide counsel to internal stakeholders on potential issues which could affect the organisation’s reputation
- Provide media training for senior internal colleagues to act as company spokesperson
- Take part in and oversee the smooth running of an out-of-hours press service
- Accountable as company representative at press briefings and external events, such as conferences and trade shows
Key skills and experience required
- Proven experience of developing, planning, executing and achieving communications strategies and objectives, and of campaigning in the media.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the media, with proven experience of day-to-day media liaison
- Excellent external stakeholder management
- Able to manage complex media issues
- Financial services or insurance sector experience is essential
