The opportunity

Our client, Transport Focus is looking for a Head of Policy to join their policy team. Transport Focus is the independent watchdog for transport users across rail, bus, tram and road travel. They influence government, regulators and industry to ensure the voice of passengers is heard.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping and communicating policy positions, driving reform agendas such as rail transformation, and keeping transport users front and centre of their work.

Main responsibilities

‍

• Lead the planning and delivery of Transport Focus’ policy work, including consultations and reform programmes.

• Build strong, senior-level relationships across government and the transport sector.

• Translate complex insight and developments into impactful, user-focused policy positions.

• Manage and empower a high-performing, cross-location policy team.

• Represent Transport Focus in the media, at events and in senior forums.

Key skills and experience required

‍

• Strong experience in high-level policy development and stakeholder engagement.

• Proven experience managing a team

• Ability to interpret and explain complex information clearly and concisely.

• Strategic thinker, comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrix-style environment.

• Understanding of UK politics and public policy, with experience working across a range of policy areas.
